Weekly Library Spotlight
November 11, 2009
Heights Library, Cleveland Heights Ohio
Welcome and Happy Veterans Day to you!!! Here at the Library Spotlight we would like to salute all veterans past and present for their service to their country. This date is special because it marks a day over 90 years ago when one of the bloodiest wars was put to an end. So before moving to on to the Library Spotlight please take a moment to think about the sacrifice of all of the brave men and women who fought over 90 years ago, and those who still fight today.
Now that the formalities are over we can get back to the library spotlight. Today we use our muscles to turn the library spotlight towards a public library in Ohio. The Heights Library in Cleveland, Ohio has a special MySpace page that I would like to talk about. It can be accessed here.
It is a MySpace page that seems to be aimed towards attracting the youth in the area. And this is what social networking can be good for. Attracting patrons who may not be familar with a library. When one enters the site, one will here some of their favorite music blasting from their frontpage. It also contains up to date blog entries that highlight activities in the community. But the most interesting part of this web page is the slide show. The slideshow highlights the newest and coolest additions to the library's collection. It is easy to get hooked into reading just by looking at the attractive way the books are presented.
So if you get the time today, check out the myspace page on the the "Heights Library", and don't forget to join us next week when we shine the library spotlight on another one of the web's hottest social networking sites.
