The Weekly Library Spotlight
For October 7th, 2009
Last week's library spotlight had us traveling to the United Kingdom. This week we will bring the spotlight back home to the United States, and visit a patriotic website. Its the Library of Congree's Flickr page. The LOC is perhaps the most famous and influential library in the nation, and it has a good flickr page to match. It (located here) contains photographs that are of interest to many researchers across the nation. Pictures of baseball teams, Abraham Lincoln, and those chronicaling the womens rights movement, highlight an extensive collection.
It is nice that the LOC has released these photographs to the public in such an easy to access format. I especially love the picture of the "Maine Baseball Club." It would be nice if many other places that house historical photographs would put some of them online.
Thats all for this week, please check back next week for another addition of the library spotlight.
