The Weekly Library Spotlight
December 9th 2009
The University of Michigan's Shapiro Library's Twitter Page
Twitter is all the range now a days, and I have only looked at 1 website in all my articles. So I thought I would change that, this week. Today we will look at the Twitter account fo the U of M's Shapiro Library, which is accesible here.
As I was doing reasearch for this weeks WLS, I looked at my Twitter pages. The one that had one of the most followers was the one from the Shapiro Library. I think that this fact is not due to the many people that attend the University, but rather the quality of the Twitter page, and the quality staff that works there.
The posts on their Twitter account have pertinent information relying to the library and the University as a whole. There tweets include dont just include accouncing of upcoming events, and normal things like that, but they announce when library and school systems are down and what the appropriate action for a student to take is. As a student myself, I would enjoy knowing when school services are down, and how to get around the problem.
Before I sign off today, I must let you know something. Many of you know that this Wiki is made for a school project. This project will end this week. As a result I will stop making updates to the WLS. That is, unless any of you out there would like to continue to read the WLS. If I have readers who enjoy this site, I would love to continue it on a long term basis. So if you want to continue to have the WLS updated every week, please comment and let me know.
If not, for the last time I would like to solute all the librarys and the social networking sites that we all love. So, perhaps for the last time, have a good day.
